Literature suggests that essential workers have experienced increased mental health risks due to increased workloads, reduced income, and isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. In this study, researchers examined crisis trends in essential workers and children of essential workers. Crisis Text Line Interventions: Evaluation of Texters' Perceptions of Effectiveness

Crisis Text Line (CTL), the largest provider of text‐based crisis intervention services in the U.S., with over 7 million people in crisis served since its inception in 2013. This paper evaluates CTL interventions from the users' perspectives. Nearly 90% of users with intent of suicide reported that the service was helpful, and nearly half reported being less suicidal. This study was published in the Journal os Suicide and Life Threatening Behavior. (2022)

Spatio-Temporal Clustering of Adolescent Bereavement in the United Stated During the Extended Response to COVID-19: A Follow-Up Study

Researchers found that peaks in COVID-19 deaths correlated with increased requests for bereavement counseling resources, particularly for Indigenous American, Black, male, and female adolescents who utilized Crisis Text Line. This study was published in the Journal of Adolescent Health. (2023)
